A NIGHT OF TRAGEDY: THE WHITE CITY CONCERT 1974
On May 26, 1974, more than 35,000 fans packed White City Stadium in London to see David Cassidy in the flesh. “Cassidymania” was at its peak. But the joy quickly turned into tragedy: the crowd surged forward, hundreds were injured, and a 14-year-old girl never made it home.
David, then only 24, was utterly devastated by that night. He said he would “never forget the look in the eyes of fans who were struggling to breathe and crying out for help.” The tragedy forced David to face a harsh reality: fame not only brought cheers, but also carried an inescapable darkness.
The White City night became a painful milestone, leading him to step away from major stages for a time. Yet for fans, it remains proof that the love for David Cassidy was so powerful it went beyond control.
